I need some help getting the correct front mount oil cooler
for my 930, I'm planning on using this front bumper and I want the biggest cooler I can fit up front... (tied in series with the stock fender mount cooler)
Bumper ==> www.Rennspd.Com B&B has several specs listed, can you guys shine some light on this? I do not plan on cutting into the tub at this time, so keep that in mind when sharing info. Thanks in advance!SmileWavy E-man |
Part of the equation to consider is how much space will you have behind the cooler before you run into the tub. You need enough space behind the cooler for the hot air to flow through vs. reflect back.
I would mount the bumper first, then source a cooler. |
That is a great idea - I was hoping someone had gone down this path before but no sense in waiting as I will need the front and rear bumper anyways. I'll call them up on Tuesday and place the order.

Those Ruf Yellowbird replica valances don't give much room between the opening and the chassis. I attempted to cram my B&B in there but it was so high up that almost the entire back of the cooler would have been coverd by the chassis sheetmetal. So I got a TRE nose that gave a bigger opening and greater room.

Setrab makes a very nice front cooler setup with 2 fans in the back. Might fit depending on your space.

put this in my SC behind a TRE RSR front bumper. no cutting tub. works good, huge drop in temps.

He did modify the tub behind the cooler a few (couple?) inches to allow for better air flow through it, but it doesn't look like it was necessary to mount it. Cooling performance is impressive; never seen oil temps over 210-220 even with prolonged boosting, so long as ambient is less than 100 or so. It gets hotter (up to maybe 230) in prolonged stop/start traffic (no fender cooler). In winter, the return line behind the front wheel well from the cooler is barely warm, even if you try really quite hard... As you don't want to modify the tub, think you'll have to go bigger and/or hang the cooler lower. |
