Please share the Sunroof Adjustment magic...
1980 SC. Sunroof doesn't want to open. I've removed the roof and the trolleys move in tandem and easily. I can get the sunroof to open if I remove the right forward keeper slide. Of course, the action gets sloppy so that has to be attached and the adjustment has to be figured out.
What's the logic on adjusting height? There are two adjustments on each side, the trolley clamp which has a bite nut that can be set, and the forward keeper slide, which adjusts using the adjustment nuts on the roof. Once open and clear of the wind deflector, the roof goes back normally and will close normally with everything fastened, and it will close level with the rest of the coupe roof. But for now when I press the switch to open the sunroof, the left side is willing and the right side jams. Thoughts? |

Less brakes, more gas!

I hate this sunroof design... You might try moving the clamp nut up 1 serration on the sticky side. I know this sounds odd, but it will seal the roof earlier and stop the cable earlier. This will lower the angle of the closing mechanism and make it easier to open.
Another possibility is that the adjustments of the guides cause it to skew. I had to play with mine forever to get them to work smoothly. Lastly, if you have a new seal its BIG. It may take some time for it to form to the opening when the roof is shut. Until then it may be hard to open. Keep in mind this is remembered from the late 90's when I last had my roof open LOL!
