Reno or Monterey, I think.

Pretty sure there is no one right answer, since these were options, but I agree that the Blaupunkt Reno and Monterey are the most likely choices. Another choice to consider is the Sebring.

John, my 88 has the Blaupunkt cassette, not sure of the model. It is original equipment on my car.
I'll get the camera charged and post pic's Karl 88 Targa |

Blaupunkt Reno SQR-46.

The Reno was an optional radio; I'm not sure if there was any standard radio. My COA also lists an optional amp under the pax seat. The Reno was a very flawed radio, and went bad in a number of ways.. Stephan at SW Stereo in NJ has been working on these for years and sells a replacement Blau 'Dearborn' that looks 95% like the Reno.

in the 80s, very few 911s were specially ordered. porsche just built them and sent them to the dealers to sell out of their showrooms. So, lots of things that were technically "optional" were really "standard," b/c the car was built/shipped with it, you either took the car or not.
if you are trying to put the "standard" (most common) radio back into an '88 Porsche (any model '88), your best bet is the Reno, as that's what probably 90%+ came with that year. |

I do agree, though, that it is a pretty crappy radio. Very low powered, very poor radio reception, and really poor reliability. It does look nice in the dash of a late 80s 911, though.

Not an 88, but my dealer window sticker shows it came with a Charleston and that it was upgraded to a Reno.

Both the Charleston and the Reno are on the sticker. I have the Reno saved away in a box.
