83 SC Sunroof Headliner

I have an SC without a sunroof headliner. Hmmm, I've generally looked everywhere on how to replace it, but can't find any information (even Bently!). I look at the sunroof, I see foam and some aluminum cross pieces. Question is, is there a panel or board the fabric attached to, or does it just glue/attach to that metal frame? Is it something I should take to a pro, or is it doable by an amature?

I have all the directions in the world to remove the sunroof...but the headliner replacement is something else. Anyone ever done this??

I messed with this when I had my 83SC.

What a pain in the ass. Limited space if you do it while in the car. Easier if you remove the whole thing.

Personal worthless opinion, If you feel comfortable taking out the sunroof, then take it to a reputable upholstery shop to get a new headliner. Make sure you take the car down so that they can see the existing materials/colors.

But I am sure there is someone on the board who has done this successfully and can paint a pretty picture.

......ain't gonna be me!

The fabric is attached to this frame. Probably what your looking at.

Does the headliner attach to the sunroof frame then using "headliner clips" and the "super weather adhesive"?

That's what it looked like to me. I've had mine out a couple times tinkering with the sunroof.
But I couldn't find just a sunroof panel. Looks like its stretched and glued on. Then clipped on to the sunroof.

Good Luck.........
