leak @ tensioner oil line inboard compressionfitting
My 76 2.7 w/ Carrera Tensioner has leak on/in the inboard fitting of the oil line - near distributor.
Wondering if I have a cracked line, don't think I overtorqued the fitting because I don't think I exceeded 10-15 Nm max recommended in another thread. Any value in trying to disassemble this one inboard fitting and retorquing? I'm wondering if the compression ferrule deforms and can't reliably reseal with a disassembly, reseat and retorque. A week ago, replaced the short line from the "T" down to the chain housing/tensioner as a 1st diagnostic step. If I replace the main line, is the existing new short line from the "T" down to the tensioner likely to still be good or is the roundish-conical end (connects to the T) still OK for a reuse?

i have been there and done this. i had a small but annoying leak at the T and tightened it up in an attempt to stop it. i went from a small but annoying leak to a big and scary leak.
i replaced both lines as i believe both the compression ferrule and the socket do indeed deform to make the seal. once that deformation has taken place, it is extremely unlikely to be able to seal again. sorry, i know this is what you don't want to hear, but there you have it. also, be advised that the design of these parts has changed and the old parts have been superseded. the part numbers i required were 930-107-347-09-M20 for the line the connects to the chain tensioner and 930-107-347-10-M20 that goes from the engine centerline to the driver's side cam tower. hope this helps.
