2.4 crank identification

The crank in my 2.2 stroked to 2.4 engine is marked D-597887. I am looking to replace this crank. Is this ID number the same on all 2.4/2.7 cranks? Or are there other numbers that will suit?

Thank you,

W

Wade, No real ID numbers. The best way to tell the difference between the 66mm crank (2.0, 2.2) and 70.4mm (2.4, 2.7 & early 3.0) is the check the main & rod journals. a "standard/standard" 66 mm stroke crank is easy to ID. It has the same size (+ - .005mm) main journals and rod journals, 56.9XXmm. The later 70.4mm crank has the same main bearing journal size but a smaller rod journal size of 51.9Xmm.
In your previous thread, you have a 70.4 mm stroke crank that needs to be replaced.

Mark,

Thanks, just checking. The journals are indeed 56.xxX51.xx indicating that it is a 70.4, I am trying to source a std/std crank and want to make sure there are no similar cranks that might not fit etc.

Regards,

W

Visually, the 2.2 crank has a small drill/plug hole, about 3/16 inch for the rods oil galley
The 2.4 has probably a 3/8 hole and the plug is easily visable as in the picture that you posted in the engine build forum.
