Ruf Coming!

Hello Guys,
I'm waiting for a set of Ruf wheels 8's and 10's these are for my 1988 black turbo, my question is how wide can I go with them and which is the best brand of tires for the size, also where can I buy the center caps?
here is the pic of the wheels set
Thanks!

I don't have any answers to your questions...

I just wanted to say those wheels are gorgeous! While I love my Fuchs, those would be my first second choice - they're going to look great against black.

Nice wheels. You may be able to get Ruf caps from Ruf in Germany. The guys in the mid-West will spam your email about the new Rufs - but won't apparently do much else for you. BTDT.

930 fitments should have 9's and 10's; 8's and 10's are actually Ruf CTR sizes (3.2 bodied, but with a 1" wider rear flare). IIRC, Ruf spec'd 215/245 section tires front/rear on Yellowbird - with at least 469+ HP (widely believed to be well under-quoted, given the 340 kmh top speed recorded). Speculation is that the stiffer sidewall configuration provides handling benefits.

I wouldn't be too worried about the absolute widest, unless looks are your main concern. Yellowbird ran narrower rear tires than I do (255/40/17). I find mine only generally spin in the wet, and I usually try not to wake up all 420 ponies in the rain.

Kumho Escta XS are available in many of the oddball sizes (many brands thin out fast in 17" sizes beyond 255/40 or thereabouts).

Specs for that tire state that anything from 215/45/17 (IIRC, Ruf original fitment size) up to 245/40/17 & 245/45/17 is acceptable on a 8J wheel, and that 255/40/17 to 285/40/17 is acceptable - again, for that tire - on a 10J.

You may be able to push it a size or two. Some have pushed it much further...

The 'Specs" tab for individual tire models on Tire Rack is a good place to research this information.

thanks Spuggy, that was all I need to know about the wheels, for the rear I would like 285 and 235 on the front; I couldn't order the center caps on ruf's web page.
