Stranded 944 Guy near Mobile, AL Needs Transmission Heeelllpp!
Long time, no see, yall! I'm still here, and still up to my ears in all things Porsche!
I know this is not 911-tech, but I also know many of you have or have had 944s, and this message will reach a wider audience here than on the 944 board (where I have also posted it): Guys, I saw this posted on the Alabama PCA Facebook page: Ed Swann: I'm stuck in stapleton,al in my 84 944 and need shifter help. I only have 5th gear and am 3 hours away from home. Help 334.318.3203.I gave him a call. He's only had the car 3 weeks and knows NOTHING about wrenching on it (though he sounds generally wrench-competent). He is in a church parking lot poking around under his car trying to figure out his transmission problem. Stapleton looks to be about 30 miles due east of Mobile, Alabama. He lives about 3 hrs north of there in Clanton, AL. He says he's on Pelican, but is very new & hasn't participated much (couldn't recall his username). With his permission, I am posting his plea for help here. If you are nearby, or even if you're not but think you can help by phone, or if you know somebody near him who might be able to help, please give him a ring.

A friend of a friend had this replaced recently. Cheap piece and took 10 minutes to R&R.

A guy on the 944 board called him up, apparently talked him thru fixing his car, and Ed is on the way back home. Love a happy ending!
