How do i remove this/ what is it?

Need to remove this thing to get to the bolt to remove the A/C compressor bracket so that I can get the alternator strap back in without scratching it all up. I tried unscrewing it but it seemed to just turn forever without backing out. I Tried to gently twist apart the two nuts, but they did not seem to want to do that. I am trying to not have to remove the distributor.

I am having the strap all cleaned up. and I think I may replace that big heater hose (?)- it's got a few slices in it.

Injector fuel line to the injector. Injector doesn't "un-screw" it's just pressed in there.

I thought plastic fuel lines should be replaced. Is that what is going on there?

Just grab it and pull. Just an O ring holding it in.

I just removed my A/C mount......didn't have to pull the injector to do it.

Pete, how did you get that bolt or nut? Tried box wrench, socket, swivel socket... Nothing got in there.

how about a craw foot and a ratchet?

This is perhaps unhelpful, but I also removed my bracket without removing the fuel line. I don't remember doing anything particularly special.

I didn't remove the fuel line either.

Is the bolt you are having trouble with the 6mm socket head at the front of the bracket? I had to grind down a 6mm allen wrench enough to gain entry to the bolt and then used a box-end wrench to leverage it to break it loose. PIA, but worked for me.

I guess i don't know what bolt your having a problem with.
I don't recall having to do anything out of the ordinary to remove the mount.

Just pull up on the injector, it will pop out, hang it out of the way and shove it back in when your done.

Trying to show you what I'm talking about (crude paintbrush tools) So the white is the bracket I want to remove to better be able to slide in the alternator strap without scratching it all up.
The yellow is the part that sticks out and the blue is the injector that is not allowing me to get a wrench in there. The green is just to show the bolt or nut is right under that lip/

If I just pop out that injector, then the socket can get right in there and I should be able to pull out that AC bracket. Not sure how you all did it without removing that bolt?

Oh yeah, and is that thick hose for the heater? where does it disappear down into below that Bracket?

FGO: that black hose is for your engine blower/heating system. It goes from the upper left @ the blower motor to the right - down thru the engine tin and connects to your heat exchangers.

Pelican sells that hose in different materials (paper/metal)) or you can buy scat tubing that will last longer and is more durable. If you go this route get 6' of the stuff and replace all the tubing...

re: A/C brackets, I removed my entire system and don't remember pulling an injector, sorry

BTW- do you have Wayne's books? I get the impression you don't, it is a must have for 911 owners. If you bought the 101 project book of Wayne's you would have all these questions answered with excellent diagrams and step=by=step instructions

I would strongly recommend that you grab a good book or two that have a good description of the engine components (Bentley, Wayne's books, etc) and spend a few nights reading up. You don't want to just start ripping bits and pieces off the engine without knowing what they do. You are potentially looking at a slippery slope when you start diving in there.

The item you are pointing at is the fuel injector. You can just pull it out, but it may be pretty stuck in there. You don't want to undo the compression fitting that connects it to the plastic tube as the fuel system may still be pressurized and you will end up with a flammable mess on top of your engine. If you pull it out, you will most likely want to replace the o-ring that holds it in place as you may end up creating a vacuum leak after disturbing it. It is also possible that the injector sleeve may come out with the injector. The injector sleeves can also be very fragile and can break/crack as they come free. You don't want bits of that falling into your engine. There is also an o-ring that seats/seals the sleeve properly. If the sleeve breaks and you need to replace it, you may need to grind the three little tabs on the runner tube in order to get a new injector sleeve in there. You don't want to be doing that with the tubes still attached to the engine.

I don't want to sound overly dramatic, but it is important to be safe and have at least a bit of an understanding of the bits you are messing with. Lots of potential issues, but it may just pop right out and go back in fine. Also, be sure to have a fire extinguisher and other safety items close at hand.

I'll try to gently pull that out. If no go I'll try to get that bolt out another way. Once that brackets outta the way should be able to get hose outta there easy right?

+1 to everything "kerthunk" said. Sometimes the fuel injectors can be extremely difficult to pull out. When I replaced my injectors I had three that would not come out for anything - very frustrating.

You are making a much bigger job for yourself trying to replace the fan strap by pulling it out from the right side. Search here on distributor removal and make your life a lot easier.

Well I have decided to just have my fan strap bead blasted to clean it up. I was going to have it powdercoated a nice silver but knew I'd scratch it no matter how I put it back. It does look much better and I don't really have to worry too much about scraping it up now. I am hesitant to mess with the distributor and I have read through the whole distrib removal thread.

I am afraid that once I pull out the bolt and pull up on the distrib, something may not realign back properly. Am I worrying for nothing?

Now I mainly just want to replace my tubing with the orange Scat stuff. So still need to get the bracket up.

You beat me to this! I have a Service manual for everything I own and 2 or 3 for some! (911 Bentley, Haynes and Clymer) Only bought the Haynes

Ahh, was able to gently pull that injector out. It's like 4 inches long! Was easily able to get bolt off and remove AC bracket. Of course then I just looked under that corner of my car and easily loosened the strap fastener on hose and pulled it out. Should be able to pick up Reddish scat tubing from the Aeromotive shop. About $50 I think.
