Ground strap

It is three years since I removed the engine/gearbox and now I'm putting it all back together. I seem to have forgot how the grounding strap is attached. Is it attached to the stud in the picture below? How is the strap attached to the gearbox?

that stud and to the gearbox. I just took mine off recently.. sorry no pic at the moment

any good spot on the trans. is fine

clean that area with a wire brush and solvent, then use water & detergent, rinse with water

next soak a paper towel with vinegar and stick it on there for a couple of days until it is all shiny while you hunt down a star washer for it

when everything is shiny, put some dielectric grease on & tighten it all down

inspect periodically to ensure it is all nice clean and shiny (a good electrical path)

same for the trans end

buy a new gnd strap and clean the ends before installing

Holly Cow 3 years... It's been 7 months and I'm having a bad case of Cabin Fever

Here is pics of the strap on the transmission which I hope it will be in the car later this month.

Thanks for the info and pictures.

Three years is a long time, but both engine and gearbox have been rebuilt and I needed some time to get the funds to pay for that.

it's cleaned but is the metal also protected from corrosion?
