What did a 911sc cost new?

Does anyone know what a 911sc 78-82 year model coupe cost back then new? Just like a baseline price?

Thanks!

About 32K if I recall correctly. A crapload of cash for a car back then.

I think my window sticker says about $25k plus $3k for the targa. With some other options it was almost $30k. That was for a 1979.

The price went up quite a bit from 78 to 83.

From what I recall, the window sticker on my old '78 coupe showed a base price under $20K. Out the door with the "options" (AC, Fuchs, etc.) was around $24K (not including tax and license), from what I remember.

The 78 SC was selling for $ 25,500 US dollars and the early 80's Coupes were selling for
nearly $28,000 dollars ...
This is taken from the Porsche Chronicle,a book that i'm currently reading !

Cheers !

My 83 SC Cabriolet sold for $38,355 - which is crazy! They were touting it as the "fastest production convertible in the world" so they were probably demanding a premium.

Wow, to put that in perspective, my house was worth about 35K in 1981, the year of my car. So why isn't my car worth more than 200K?!?

So what does one pay today? I think in the $10-15k range. Where are the prices of these cars going? Is it where the early long hoods (not sure this is the right term) have gone or is it flat? What is the difference between 'stock' and highly modified? Hmmmmm....

No, the prices of SCs have not gone where the longhood prices have.

SC prices have been basically flat for 10-15 years or more.

$10-$15K is a reasonable range, although truly exceptional ones (like top 5%) can get into the 20s.

Top notch SC's are easily over $25k now.

82 sc

My 82SC cost $35,850 new - see this post for window sticker and options:
Let's see your window sticker - options + price
My sense is good examples are now gaining in popularity and increasing in price as they get more rare and stand out from the common place newer models.

I think its because people are realizing what great bullet proof cars they are.

Someone who is better at math than I should convert these prices into inflation adjusted dollars.

Wonder if SCs were more than a 997 goes for these day?

PO said he paid $47k new for my 86 Targa.
