A Great Porsche Video

A new friend (in the red 911T) sent me the link to one of the best Porsche videos on the web... that I've watched. It's 50 mins long. The group of German friends drive from Germany to Interlaken, Swiss to a Porsche gathering. The footage shot while driving in the Alps is great....it's a 2- beer movie.
Here is the link:

Enjoy!

Aw man!!!! Now I've gotten nostalgic for last month's vacation in "Ober Bayern" (sans Porsche unfortunately). Driving in the Alps is just an absolutely unforgettable experience. It really is the environment for which street 911's (and Porsches in general) were designed for.

BTW -- did anyone else notice how many bicyclests there are riding up in those passes? I was driving up a road with a 21% grade near Berchtesgarten and noticed that there were even folks riding their bikes up that!!!!

Totally humbling! (both the moutains and the bicyclests!)

Agreed, awesome video! A narrative would be very cool, letting people know where you are and what is happening.

I was cringing at this one though, the cameraman was parked right in the apex of the corner (a little up I know) anyone that got light in the corner was going to cream him

First, I think you meant to say that the cameraman was standing at the exit of the corner, the apex would be somewhere behind the driver's head of the first 911 in the picture (given the two lane road). Secondly, I have to point out that for the most part everyone seemed to be driving responsibly in the video. No-one seemed to be treating the road as a hill-climb competition. This is as opposed to many 911 owners in the states. (Note, that this doesn't apply to European motorcycle riders, many of whom seem to have no sense of mortality, but who rather have a deathwish.)

Besides, on many of those corners in the Alps there isn't any room for going slightly off the road without going over the edge.

Well, I wrote he was PARKED "up a little" from the apex, but well, you know what I mean, no need to split hairs

There were a few people that were sideways in the video, which I saw just prior to this. There is a sizable run-off area there, and well, he is parked IN it, imo.

OK you computer guys, how do I save this? I have right-clicked and left-clicked all over the place and don't get a "save" or "save as" option. Is it copy-protected somehow?

Good vid. Now if I could just finish my projects I could do the mini version of the Alps in the Great Smokey Mtns. Time for a fun run!

The US has many roads similar if you are into being adventurous. This country provides some really great driving west of the Mississippi. Too many people, too slow, and pia HP east of the River.

It was a nice eye candy vid.

The truly educational thing here is how you got the computer to do a 182 meg download as a 4 gig download. At half a gig a second no less!.

(That is like crashing a 747 full of encyclopedias into your computer every quarter second or so!)

I would step back before the HD explodes.

Why can't we do this?

Why can't we drive like this on American roads without being constantly in fear of Nazi cops around every bend and self-rightous brain-dead drivers who take it personally when you pass them? Went up to the mountains of NC last weekend in the SC for some fun on similar roads and there was some form of law enforcement (town cop/ HP/Sher) EVERYWHERE. Do we really need this??!! How many cops did you see in the video? I spent a month in Europe on my Ducati in 2000 and it was a dream... drivers who drive and no cops.... Sigh.......

That is an amazing video. And like Ron said we have similar roads out west. Just pick any road that goes up into the rockies.

Heh, I know how, I am über geek, I spend far too much time writing browser based applications. The reason is, he watched it once, and it was kept in his browser cache. The subsequent visit blasted it from cache to his file system... sorry, geek moment.
