Anyone here using Motul?

With Mobil 1 15W-150 becoming either very expensive or unobtanium, I'm exploring other brands. I can get Motul 6100 for $35 delivered for a 5L jug. I'm checking on what 300V would cost. Anyone use this? Can I get away with the 6100 in my 993?

Rick
I'm by no means an expert on oil, but I hope my mechanic is. I have a 73 911 with an RS motor in it and we've used Motul 15-50 300V in it for the past 5 years. I live in San Diego so our climate is warm.

Nick

PS I bought my car from the former CEO of Motul; I'll be he used the same oil!

Thanks, but I suspect 300V is about twice as expensive as 6100. I'll know when the lady from Motul replies to my latest email.

It seems Mobil 1 15W50 is getting harder to obtain in Canada as well ... I was looking into plan "B",let us know how the Motul 15W50 compares as far as zinc content and overall performance goes !

Cheers !

You can buy Mobil 1 15-50 at advance auto parts 5 qts for $34, and a free filter(but I wouldn't use the Mobile1 filters on the p-car). So I now have a few years supply of filters for my daughters jetta and my truck.

JMHO,

Motul 6100 is an excellent product and certainly a major cut above Mobil One.

300V is a real racing oil with a minimal detergent package. I don't think there is a better oil in the world, however street use requires frequent oil changes and that gets expensive.

And Steve shuts down the debate. Motul 6100 it will be. Thanks!

And for me too...I'm glad to know I've been using such a good oil for the past 6 years of. Expensive oil, but cheap insurance I suppose.

Yeah,it seems i'll be going the Motul way as well next oil change ...
They stopped selling the 5 liter/down to 4.4 liter containers of Mobil 1 15W50 in Canada and the one liter bottles now go for almost $10.00 dollars ...

Nice to know that Steve from Rennsport recommends it !

Cheers !
Phil

Red Line racing oil isn't any worse, is it?
