M8 Jet Nut (Kay Nut) Sourcing

I thought I have find a good place, Baller Bolt, but all they did was to charge my CC and not replying to e-mails. AE did reverse the charge.

I found a few places but the shipping to NY is more then the product itself and USPS small box is not offered.

Let me know.

Thanks,

JJ

Its an outside reduced diameter nut for thigh spot.

Normal M8 nut has a M13 socket head

M8 Jet Nut has a M10 socket head (usually made of Titanium)

Thanks Bill,

They are using UPS ground so its $19 to ship 12 nuts for a total of $55.

The best I got so far is from Pegasus @ $39 for 12 delivered.

I'm thought I saw them on Henry site (Supertec Porsche Engine Rebuilder) but can't find them anymore.

I've had the same experience with baller bolts and some other ti place too, I think it might have been racebolts but not 100% sure.

Mettec has been good to deal with - their quality IIRC was superb on the bits I ordered.

Phil,

Did check them as well as the US site and I did not find any. Are you guys coming up to Calabogie this year?

Prevailing Torque Elliptically Deformed Locknuts!!

Try Coastfab. I bought a number of jetnuts there for my Alfa but can't recall what shipping cost.

They are not too bad in the $16 range IIRC.

If Phil guys can not get them, the best deal is at Aircooled.net pack of 50, $30 + 14 for shipping. I already sold half of the pack.

Hi JJ - where are you using these nuts? Exhaust manifold? Also, I can't tell if they are the elliptical ones that lock, or if they have a regular thread.

Hi Tony,

I'm using them on the manifold adapter for the PMO throttles. With the normal 13 hex head, on some of the location I could not not use a socket let alone a torque wrench and end up rounding them off.

They are elliptical so they will lock in place. You can use them on the exhaust manifold.

The thread failed tested at 40lb/ft. but in either locations (air or exhaust manifolds) is not even close to 40.

Aircooled Net has the best price/shipping I came across after weeks of searching.

Thanks. With an O.D. of 13mm, they could also be a substitute for the expensive ($8) barrel nuts used on the intake manifold, which don't have any locking function.

Looks like someone has done it before:

Just a quick follow-up. I bought a bag of the M8 nuts from aircooled.net and will be using them with Nordlock washers for the intake plenums (as in the pic I inserted above) and also without washers on half of the exhaust manifold nuts. One thing to note - they are not the conical/elliptical type. In other words, they are not "locking". That's probably good for the exhaust, but not so much for the intake, hence the Nordlocks. I like their svelte form and they will be good to have spare.

McMaster refuses to sell to me in Toronto. I had no prior interaction with him, but he said "I dont deal with new customers in Canada anymore." This was on the back on a $1000 order for nuts, bolts odds and ends I had spend hours putting together on his website over the period of a week. I wish it wasnt so, but I now am vocal about that poor treatment from McaMaster Carr.
