Interior dimensions of narrow body 911s.

I had a harness bar in my 1969 912 coupe that was a very tight fit between the upper seat belt anchor bolts. When the car sold in 2005, the harness bar was returned to me and I've had it stored since. I recently decided to put it in my 1975 911S and when I offered it up, it was a good 2" too narrow for the car.

Did Porsche change the interior dimensions between the b-pillars between 1969 and 1975? Is it just a matter of the upper seat belt anchors being lowered to a wider point in the car? I'm all ears if anyone knows.

The irony here is that the harness bar originally came out of a friend's 1974 Carrera which by rights should be identical in body structure to my 1975... shouldn't it?
