They suggested different brand rear tyres??

I have Yokohama AVS 18's tyres , 245/40 on the front and 275/35 on the rears. 86 Wide body Cab with Kenesis wheels

I discovered a large screw in the RHR and unfortunately it has damaged the sidewall. The tyre shop suggested that it can they get the Yoko's they suggest replacing the rears with Pirellis PZERO ASIMMETRICO.

Is is strange to have a different brand of tyre front to rear?

What tyres do you guys run, suggest?

Sounds to me like they are 1. crazy, 2. They would have to order the Yoko's, but have the Pirelli in stock, 3. Make more money on Pirelli's. I would either change all four or get the one replaced with the same type of tire.
Tell them to take a flying leap. "Hmmm, we can sell him one tire or two...."

I can tell you that you wouldn't even make it past the entry tech and into the pits here for D/E. Those are two completely different types of tires. Just a wild guess, but did the tire shop have Pirelli on the sign? Take the time to find the right replacement. You may be able to mix on a lesser car, but a high speed sweeper is the wrong time to find out the front and back tires are incompatible, especially in a 911. I like those Yoko AVS Sports, I drive on Yoko Advans. Good luck.

Thanks Guys they had neither in stock, the Yokos were the cheaper (sic) option. Mine is just a road car but is did not sound correct.
