NY DAILY NEWS FRONTPAGE: Jerry building $1.4M Garage for his Porsches
The article on page 6 goes on to discuss how the neighbors on this upper west block are annoyed at the frivolous project. I'll post the text and article later.

If you had over $50,000,000, or what ever ludicrous amount of money the guy has for making a show about nothing, and loved cars, wouldn't you do the same. On our terms, it would be like us building a $500 garage. It's all relative.

Jerry's spending 1.4M on a 16-foot by 52-foot garage? That's like a 5 car garage, right? True it's a 3 story building, but I still don't see how you could fit 20 Porsches in there unless they're stacked on top of each other...
Booyah! My garage is only 200 square feet smaller... -Boyo

I'd like to see the security system on his new garage!
Why wouldn't he just hop the train to the burb's and cruise the Parkway in his beloved P-cars? Oh well, I can't wait until we all get our invites to the grand opening, seeing as how we ARE fellow P-car fanatics ![]()

Boyo, It's three stories w/ an elevator. Also it is costing him nothing in reality, real estate is appreciating at an alarming rate in Manhattan, even after temporary down-turn after 9/11. Lastly, add another zero to figure mentioned here re: TV wealth.

Jerry....I know you HAVE to be a lurker...hanging out in the background of THE BEST bulletin board on the net! You have to figure out a way to get out some type of invite to your grand opening! I have seen the pics of your cars at SM airport.... so fess up and show your face here! *grin* Being Porsche fanatics that we are and knowing that it is hard to go a day without logging into this board. I would find it hard to believe that the J man isn't occasionally here too! Brian

Before he got married, Jerry was dating a young lady attending American Univ. here in DC. He probably does not get down here as often anymore. But it sure would be nice to see show up at a tech session in these parts. Our Potomac PCA chapter is one of the best in the US, if not the best. He'd probably have a great time, and if unannounced, there would probably just be a bunch of Porsche buffs, wanting to talk cars with him.
If you follow this board Jerry, come on down here to a tech session and let me inspect your car - for your own safety.

I'm thinking Jerry doesn't get under the hood of his 911s as much as he'd like... Probably has a factory trained mechanic staffing the garage full time. Maybe we can get that guy to host a tech session at Jerry's new garage when it's ready...ya think?
![]() Still, a 16-foot wide garage? For 1.4M I'm thinking it should have an attached test track... -Boyo

In the unlikely event that Jerry ever showed up at your PCA tech session or event you should not clamor all over him and treat him differently than any other interested member. Don't run over to educate him (he already knows alot) and don't cow-tow to him. Treat him with the same disinterest that you would for any shmuck member if you want any chance for him to show up again.
Of course that will never happen and all of the officers of your club would probably run over and chew his ear off with boring embarrassing stories and butt-kiss him and he'll scurry away and never show up again. Too bad because he's a real hardcore Porsche guy.

Who knows, maybe he's a regular poster here, perhaps just using a pseudonym? Hmmmm... ![]() |

Actually the manhattan real estate market tends to be softening a bit in general, but I'm sure he's not in it for investment purposes anyway - he has other more important things to invest in ![]() Brad

Actually, the guys who come to our tech sessions are pretty low-key and I'm sure Jerry would feel right at home with us. Maybe he could even inspect a few cars for us. Several of us are from Jersey and all of us are Porsche nuts who love to bs about our cars. Having worked on Cap. Hill and in the Nat. Press Bldg., I've gotten to hang with a lot of celebs and famous pols, and in a smaller setting, it's rare they get crushed by star-struck bozos. Maybe Robert Reford will stop by next time he's in town too and check out the car he drove in Spy Game again, as that one's in our chapter.

Jerry has been posting as "BS52" on the Early S Registry board for quite some time now. Who else could get away with posting thoughts about nothing day after day after day after .....

Judging by the stories I hear from contractors working on high end office and penthouse renovations in NYC, 1.4 million does not sound like alot of money for a three story building there. That 1.4 mil is probably just the renovation and not the whole cost of the project. Whatever, I bet it turns out to be a really cool garage!
Being a Porsche enthusiast, I understand. Speaking of garages, a garage thread might be a good idea. JoeF |
