Question re Targa Top Rebuild
Just found out that Autos International in Escondido, CA rebuilds Targa tops.
Have any of you had them do yours? And if so were you happy with the work? (I assume the answer will be yes as they seem to be involved in almost every really good restoration I read about!). PS I know Dan P. has a great reputation on the board. It's just that I would rather use someone who is more or less local. |
Check the price vs Dan. He did a terrific job on my top. I can't recommend him too highly. That is all he does and he is the best.
|
+1 on Dan, his turnaround will probably be quicker than Autos Int'l too
|
+1 on Dan. More importantly is your front windshiled seal, get it from him for a proper seal.
You can take a look at mine if you wish, we are close by. :D Jim |
Thanks all. Dan's still a possibility, but I like the idea of being able to go back in person and get them to do adjustments if I still have too much noise.
As for the seal, I realize it's important to get the height right at the front. Will make sure it's OK too (Jim, I'd like to come by and look at yours sometime - will send PM). |
Ok... Newbie here. Who is Dan?

He posts here under the handle carsinc . You can read about him on his web site here: Vintage Porsche Parts and Targa Tops for Porsche He is a great asset to the Porsche community. |
I can see your point on doing local, but in this case, I don't think it's an issue. Had 2 close friends have the service and Dan is the schizzle.

My Targa top is OK and I am OK with the fit etc. However, the cloth header is sagging and hangs down. Is it supposed to be adhered to the top or just stretched tight?
