I have read so much about the upgrade and so forth I'm confused.
I have the old cross shaft out along with the needle bearings and need to replace them. I do not know if mine has been upgraded or not. I had plastic bushings in the fork. My shaft ends measure 13mm, where the needle bearings fit, the needle bearing housing measures 19mm, the thick part of the shaft , the part that fits in the fork measures 19mm as well. The shaft itself measures 117.70mm long. Talk about a pain to get out, the shaft was installed backward, the threaded part was not visible and I still have the right hand needle bearing housing stuck in the "ear" of the tranny. Going to purchase more dremel tools today and get it out. Can one the ID what I have. I know pictures would help but do not know how to do that. Thanks Bill |

Chuckr:
Thanks for the reply. I have read that artical, my shaft looks just like the one in the thumbnail, however my fork had plastic bushings and not bronze. I need to replace the bushings as well and do not see them in the kit. Does anyone know if the bushings are sold alone or do i have to buy another fork. |

Clutch Release Fork (NOTE: Should be updated with kit as far as I know, you need new fork above, along with the updated kit that goes with it. Have you read any of this ? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/444377-g50-shift-fork-bushing-help Last edited by chuckr; 07-25-2011 at 09:28 AM.. |

oilite bronze bushings come with the aftermarket shaft kit, not in the new fork. yours has been reamed out (upgraded) if you have needle bearings on the ends of the shaft. the trans ears were bored out to take the bearings. the shaft kit has sleeves that replace the bearings. it's not in the instructions, but if you use the shaft kit, the outer sleeve needs to be shortened 10mm and so does the inner end of the shaft. no shortening needed if the ears have not been bored out.

'964 116 710 KIT' is the worldpac number. i don't see it in the pelican catalog, but you should call them and see if they do have it.
you know, basically, you already have an update, in spite of the nylon bushings. the shaft should be fine, just replace the bearings if needed. the bushings in the fork probably didn't wear, just the tips of the fork. does the throwout bearing have a plastic liner that slides on the guide tube? that would be the updated stuff.
