Red face 911 SC guys Help!!

My 83 SC has a brown interior and a brown headliner. According to Mark S Haab Authenticity Series book the healiner should be an off-white creamy color. If you have brown interior what color is YOUR headliner. Pelican parts only offers cream and black replacements. Could it be that my headliner is NOT stock?? Egads!
Also the same book is vague as to wether or not SCs had a rear window wiper. My owners manual talks about one. I rarely see them in pics? Does your SC have one? Where is the control for it?

Thanks in advance!!!

My euro '80SC has a rear wiper. The switch is on the dashboard between the oil tank level guage and the oil temperature guage.

My (North American) '83 SC does not have a rear window wiper, though it does have the two-stage defogger. My interior is a wine or burgundy color, and the headliner color is a perfect match with the seats, dash carpets, everything. I would think that an aftermarket headliner would be easy to identify. There's German quality....and then there's aftermarket. IMHO, they're not even similar.

My 80 SC has a dark brown factory headliner. I believe they came stock with either black or brown, and ivory was an option.
I am going to replace mine soon with a black one. It came with the car so it is free, and i don't really think anyone is going to notice if it isn't black. Then again, if they do I won't care.

No rear window wiper on mine either.

Mines cream.

No rear wiper, that would just be added weight.

My father's 82 SC was "Rosewood" with a brown leather interior...including head liner...so your's is probably stock. BTW, he bought it new.

No rear wiper though.

The Haab book is rife with inconsistencies. I would not trust that book for authentic information.

My 80SC's headliner is also brown also. It also had a factory rear window wiper that was removed by the PO when they installed and oversizes AC condensor.

My '83 SC Coupe had that awful brown interior, before I redyed everything black, and it had what I think of as the standard off-white/beige headliner, which I replaced with a new off-white/beige headliner...

Gee I've come to like that "ugly" brown interior. Well then so my brown headliner that matches everything else is indeed OEM. Problem is no one seems to offer a Brown replacement only cream and black. Guess I could dye one brown? Then again a cream one would go well with brown and it was a factory standard in 83 so I may go that way. As for the rear wiper I don't really need one but I was curious because it is mentioned in my manual.

A recent pleasant surprise was I found the lever for cruise control when I removed the wheel. The PO didn't know it had one and neither did I(remember I've only had this car 3 weeks now).

Anyhow thanks SC guys for your help as usual. This community is awesome and I'm glad to be part of it!! Have a great Porche weekend!

Brown replacements *are* available. All I remember about it though, is they cost quite a bit more than the ubiquitous black and white, and are "Original German" headliners.

Aside: I too like that "ugly" brown headliner. . .black is too dark and cream is too VW for my liking. Not that there's any thing wrong with VW's

They have them here, world upholstery note; "colors available"
although they are available elsewhere as well. If it comes to me, where it was I found the "german" ones, I'll post.

My SC came from the factory with a black interior and creme headliner. The PO had the headliner switched to black, though.
