I'm floored!

I wonder what this will feel like if they wreck? Must be one weird sensation not being able to see what is happening.

I really don't get it. Isn't a big part of the navigator's job to see where they're going??? How's he going to know what part of the notes to read if he doesn't know where on the course they are?!! He must have to glance out the window every once in a while, doesn't he? -- Curt

I watched the first leg of the rallye, and it looks like his legs are bent. He isn't too big to start with.

What about motion sickness?

Those fellows are a different breed, thats for sure!

I'd have no problem driving at speed (if I could keep it on the road) but to be just along for the ride....no thanks!

The Focus to me looks very top heavy out there vs. the 206...which seems to be cleaning up the competition with relative ease.

That Speed Channel commentary must go though, I miss the English chap from last year.The new guy had to point out that the 3 , 4 , 5 and six illumination on the dash was the gear selected! Daaaaaaaaaaaaa :rolleyes:

Get a play by play man that knows the game pleassssssssse!!

I use to be a navigator (co-pilot) for two years (and a driver for another four) and as a navigator you only rely in your 'book' during the stage.. you don't have time to look at the road, neither is the driver.. You may get a glimpse of the road, but the 'book' is the only thing you have.. you create the 'book' based on previous years, walking the stages the days prior the competition and some low-speed driving the day before (normally the roads are open until race day) to assess changes in the pavement, new potholes, etc.

I have given (by mistake) the wrong turn size, wron gear, wrong distance to the driver and he fully comply with my instructions... which is not good because you normally end either off the road or around a tree.

Indeed a different breed of people.

jriera;
Correct me if I'm wrong but don't the navigators have a very accurate odometer in front of them (I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't GPS nowadays) that they use to calibrate their notes to the current location?

I suspect that as a result of Speedchannel's upgraded coverage that we're going to be seeing a number of NASCAR converts to Rallying.
