timing specs for 73T 2.4 MFI?
I'm still hunting gremlins...
Are the specs the same for both the 73T 2.4 MFI and CIS versions? The distributor in my car is a 0 231 184 001, could it be stock? how is it different from xxx 169 003 which I see listed as the correct one. My rotor spins clockwise and the dist seems to have a vacuum retard, is this correct? I get different answers for different people and trying to sort this out... thanks for the help, Steve |

According to PET you should have the vacuum retard. Timing spec for the 73 T are 5 deg ATDC at idle. I would also check at 6000 RPM to be sure you are at 32-38 deg BTDC for full advanced. Bruce Anderson's book list the 0.231.169.003 for a 72T. No listing for the 73 but may be the same. I do not know what distributor you actually have. Oh. The timing spec is for both MFI and CIS.

The MFI T cam should be set at 3.15 and I dont have the spec in my head on the CIS T but less than 1.0 comes to mind
The vacuum is vacuum retard for emissions. Disconnect the vacuum line and set at 6k rpm for 35 degrees. The vacuum only works at idle when the butterfly is closed. Bruce |
