Exhaust Valve Question

Hey all, I am new to engine work, so just trying to learn something here and would appreciate the help. I have a ’72 2.4T w/ carbs. My heat exchangers are old and need replacing so I pulled them off. I noticed cylinder #3 had white residue on the exhaust valve, how concerned should I be? See pics, thanks.

Looks to be burning a bit lean....you should do a baseline adjustment, sync them and check plugs.
