Dome light question
Hey guys,
I have an '86 coupe and have been having a problem with one of the dome lights. I tried searching but only came up with door switch problems. Here's the symptoms: -Driver's side dome light operates properly. When either door opens, it's on or when you switch it manually it goes on. -Passenger side dome light works fine with door switches. It is on when either door is open. -Passenger side dome light does NOT turn on when switched manually. I took it out and it looks like it doesn't ground from the manual switch position for some reason. This contact looks like it is part of the trim and then this is ground to the roof or somewhere else? This isn't getting continuity to ground. Where does the manual switch contact ground to? Any ideas? Thanks! |

The manual position grounds through that brass spring that also acts as a retainer, so give it a clean and make sure it has good contact to the mounting metal. Surface rust or a tuck of roof liner can stop it working.
