Can a turn signal relay cause this?
 

As most of you know, I recently had a brand new OEM wiring harness installed in my car, yet there is an odd problem that I simply can't trace.

When I start the car, the turn signal indicators dimly glow and pulse. Today, I hit the left turn signal, and although the front and rear signals operated properly, the right indicator on the speedo lit up and didn't blink (though I could hear the relay clicking). When the switch returned to neutral, the dim glowing came back to both indicators. Hitting the left signal again, the left indicator on the speedo worked this time. When not in use however, both the indicators still glow all the time.

Any clue?

i would try a new relay first.

I would start by removing fuses, until the glowing lights go out.
If the turn signal is still operating, then you found the circuit that is causing the short. If the turn signal is the circuit causing the problem , I would look at the switch, or that new harness?

I'm thinking there may be a back-feed of electricity occuring here. Also, check all the ground points including the one in the dash board.
And JW is right in saying to first check the flasher...keep your fingers crossed it's that simple.

It may be the relay, but I tend to think that the control stalk switch could be sticking and cause it, too!

By the way, I had this problem BEFORE the new harness when in, so it's not related to that.

I'll try the suggestions above when I return from my business trip, and will report back.

Hello

Check your ligts and wireloom to them.

Check your hazard switch.

Sounds like some other part doesn´t see enough ground. Maybe you still have some meltet wires in the car. best is to unplug the rearlights at the enginbay to start troubleshooting and then pull all relatet fuses untill the glow goes away.

Any other electric irritations ?
