Blaupunkt Monterey keeps ejecting cassette when it's inserted

About a month ago I finally figured out there is a fuse in the back of the unit and fired my Monterey up. Never been a big fan of the radio, so I bought some blank cassette tapes and made a tape. (Yes, I know... somewhat antiquated)

When I insert the cassette into the slot, it tries to play both sides and then automatically ejects after about one or two seconds. Also tried a cassette adapter for my iPod and that automatically ejects also. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

On my 87 944, it did the same thing, it turned out to be the belt. It was broken and the system was design to keep cassettes out in the case of belt failure.

Also check the eject button, it may be stuck in.

Jim,
Thanks for the reply! I'm assuming the belt you are talking about is in the internal workings. Is there a way to get these radios out? In other words, how do you get to the tabs that hold it in on the top of the unit? I found the bottom ones by looking up behind the dash from the floor, but can't figure out how to get to the top ones.

I'm not that familiar with the model, does it have four small holes at the corners?
if it does it requires a special tool that came with the radio for removal. You could also use four nails placed in the holes and wiggle it out.

Thanks, that did the trick...

Now, how do you get the unit apart? I don't see any screws.

2 questions:
It wasn't a Yani tape, was it?
Can you post a pic of the cassette player? (we love puzzles)
