Power-to-weight ratios

Well the only measue that counts...

http://www.vintagebus.com/3.6/perf.html

according to this my '73 2.4 T w/ 210 hp should be nearly equal to a '73 Carrera 2.7 RS and can trash an '83 911 SC 3.0

Remind me, what's all this about a SCWDP?

Doesn't say much for the TT Quattro either

I saw the thread, and was gonna pipe up with 'hey, I know of a site with...'

never mind...

If anyone has data points for cars that aren't in the table, I'd be glad to add them.

Cool chart. They ought to add Kurt Zimmerman's '69 912 to the list. 3.5 liter, twin plugged, slide valve injected engine of 360-380 horses depending on exhaust being run. Weight down to 1860. Quite a beast, and it's street legal! at 360 horse, that's 5.16 pounds per horsepower. 908 Spyder was rated at 3.9 pounds per horsepower, a reference.

So, according to this chart, my car is just a little faster than a slug. Pretty close to the same acceleration as a 1.8L Mazda Miata. Some things, even those in print, are hard to believe. I can tell you my car weighs considerably less than 2760 lbs.

1971 917K 5.0 L 630hp 1760 pounds, 2.79 Lbs/HP

Mark Donohue's Sunoco CanAm 917/30 had around 1100HP, so assuming a similar weight, it drops to 1.6 Lbs/HP

In other words, "Hang on to your butt!"

Did I say less? I meant to say more. Probably over 2800 lbs. The other day I tried to pass a snail, but after several minutes I had to pull back behind him again…oncoming traffic. It must have been a high performance snail. I guess that CIS throttle response problem is pretty serious.

VW bus only weighs 2200lbs?

Why not drop in a 3.6 here and get to 8.00 lbs/hp?

Actually I recently saw a post, I guess it was Rennlist, thought it was here, where a guy had a 3.6 in a bus, '18" forged rims, and other assorted stuff, looked like a real high dollar setup up and cost in excess of $100K if I remember the website correctly. Kinda silly at that price, but I'd love to embarass people in a VW bus. I'll try to find the link.
