Red face im in a pickle

so i took my 82 sc to a very reputable local mechanic, he told me it would be a grand to fix it, im in over my head just getting my dream car i take it to a neighborhood shop , where i have seen several 911's through out the years, he said he could do it for 600. well needless to say it ran worse than before. i took it back to the PM and her sprayed carb cleaner from a can with a straw that was pinched off slightly so as to not make a mist and almost every one of those intakes were leaking at the gasket. the guy that did the work said he did a smoke test and is showed a slight leak coming from the air box, I told him to just do the job i payed him for and make it so that there are no vac. leaks around the intake gaskets.

Are you saying you took it to a reputable Porsche mechanic first, then took it to a non reputable mechanic?

No disrespect but is there a question here or are you just venting

If you would like some help you should explain the problem

If you take as much time talking to your mechanic about your issue as you did describing your problem here, apparently for advice, you probably got your money's worth.

What's the point of this thread-venting?

Hmm, no disrespect, maybe it's time to fine a mechanic that you can trust.

A grand is pretty much normal when taking your P-car to a mechanic. Sorry. Kind of like going to Costco and not getting out for under $100.
