Accident - > Lemons - > Lemonade

In June a police car did this to me while I was parked at the traffic lights.

I was about to have a Wolf V500 EFI set up fitted to the car so it all happened at once.

Went from a 2.7 to a 3.2 short stroke last year but funds didn't allow the induction to be changed.

Engine had to come out as part of the repair.

While that was happening the CIS came off and on went 3.2 intake.

'Herbie' as the kids call it is now safely home.

The EFI has transformed the SS engine. This thing pulls cleanly and strongly from below 2000 RPM in 5th. This Wolf thing is magic. That's the lemonade.

My thanks to Mike Jacobson at Spyder Automobiles for getting me through all of this. A true professional.

Congratulations on making the best of a bad situation. I love the color of your car. Is that an OEM Porsche color?

A cop rear-ended you? Lol. Looks like it worked out well with the repair/upgrade. Nice looking car & family.

Huh.....

You forgot to thank your therapist (me)... ...

I swear guys...Steve was more than just beside himself over this little bender!

At least I know for sure my old gal went to the right home...he loves "Jazz" like a baby .

I haven't had a chance to drive her yet (swamped with other work); Mike tells me he's pretty happy so once my back heals up after yet another injury I might just slide myself in for a bit of a drive next time Steve brings her in.

BTW - it's a VW colour...fell in love with it and didn't care much that it was ever going to be a PITA to match being pearl over metallic .

that is a cool color. It reminds me of the BMW Avus Blue available on M3 in 1995. It looks like the 911 bumper is so low it is almost useless against a typical car.

Thanks for the nice remarks folks.

The colour is "Jazz Blue" and is a VW colour as Lisa says.

I should have thanked Lisa for the therapy too. Having your pride and joy smashed up isn't fun and then waiting weeks for the other party's insurance to approve repairs really eats at you too. If it was my fault it would have been easier to swallow.

And yeah, schumicat, the rear bumper seemed to slip under the front of the car that hit me. The rear lights and hood are about perfect for absorbing everything those bumperettes were designed to absorb ...

I now have an obsession with looking in the rear view mirror and am also noticing that too many seem to drive way too close. Personally I'd back the hell away from an old rear engined Porsche but I guess most people don't really know and/or care about that.

Anyway, rant over as I'm back on the road and very happy with the car. EFI is the way !

If it's any consolation, the copper who hit you will first be lambasted mercilessly by peers, followed by hours at a keyboard explaining themselves five times over. They will then be suspended from driving police vehicles except in emergency situations and positioned in the passenger seat where that have to do all the writing until they are reassesed for competence. If considered suitable to be retrained, they then have to suck eggs and ride with an instructor for a shift. The plus side it they will get a day at driver training where they get to flogg a car around the skid pan for a while.

It won't be an anonymous incident for insurance either, they will receive the driver's details and there is a real risk that their personal no-claim percentage will (rightly if they screwed up) take a hit.

I banged up a Victoria Police divvy van during a chase many years ago...
