A/C wiring colour coding 911SC
My A/C stopped working on Friday evening, no power at all.
Anyway whilst troubleshooting the A/C relay I discovered that I have completly different colour coding on the wires to the relay than the wiring diagram shows. Admitedly I am using a 1982 911SC diagram and the car is an 1983 911SC but I cant imagine that they cahaged between years. Has anyone come across this before? |
Is it possible a previous owner replaced the relay socket?
|
My Bentley has the wiring wrong for the A/C relay in the smugglers box.
Don't have it in front of me but i think the colors were right but they mis-labled the numbers on the relay. |
I guess it is possible that the PO changed the wiring but I have followed it quite a way back into the loom and it looks factory to me.
The colours are way off, the wiring diagram for instance has yellow and black wires for the control side of the relay and red and red/white for the supply side, I have brown, green/white, green/red and green!! The reason the A/C is not working is that I only have 12v to one of the relay terminals and there should be 12v on 2 of them, problem is I don't know which other one should be hot as the colours are all wrong. |
Got part of the story, I am looking at the cooling fan relay not the A/C relay.
Where is the A/C relay? |

Thanks Gerry,
What has confused me is that I thought the relay in the fuse box was the main A/C relay, its even labeled that way on the fuse box lid. So if that is the front condensor fan relay and the one in the smugglers box is the evaporator fan relay, where is the "Main" A/C relay? |
