Floor Board Problem

Is the drivers side floor board critical ?

When my floors were replaced I lost the small bracket that the base of the board slides into and is bloted down. Without it, the board is not very stable.

Thanks in advance.

Guess it depends on whether or not YOU care. I'd be looking for a new bracket...

The floor board holds the stop for the clutch...I'd replace it. BTW...what bracket? My 78 only has a bracket on the passenger side...the driver's side fits over the bolts welded to the floor of the body.

Bracket was the wrong word, those bolts were what I waqs referring to.

I appreciatre your help.

What you can do is get two strips of metal about 1" wide 4" long. Screw one end to the board about 4" apart and then the other end to the floor with sheet metal screws. It will stay secured. Hate to have you put holes in the floor, but it's a lot safer than the board flopping around.

Are you talking about the bracket the hold the floor board down, or the one that is welded to the floor?

Both (I think). Does anyone have a photo of the proper set up ?
