Cool Baby seat

Possible to put a baby seat in 77 911 targa? If yes, what brand and how. Thank you in advance for your help.

Just need to make sure that it fits properly (facing backward or forward depending upon age/weight).

Suggest you drive the P-car to the near Toys R Us or any some such purveyor of car seats. Explain to the sales person that you need to check fit in your car (helps to have your pregnant wife along).

Also, are you planning on putting car seat in front or back? if the child will ride in either depending upon whether one parent or two in car, make sure seat fits in both spots. no need to worry about front airbag issue, since '77s don't have them. Infant/child seats are secureable with a lap belt, so front/back work equally well.

good luck and drive with your kid often!

Assuming you're talking front seat...
You will have to use a locking clip since the seats have inertia reels (ie only lock with sudden movement). It can be a challenge to get a tight fit when using a clip.

I've found I can get a very tight fit by putting the passenger seat back as far as it will go, then installing the seat at tight as I can using the locking clip. Then, I pull the seat adjuster lever and slide the seat forward as far as I can. The car seat is installed very securely using this method. You just have to make sure that the seat sliding mechanism locks into place.

As far as brand of seat, I think Steve's right. You need to try some on for size. My car has sport seats so what fits mine might not fit yours.

If you're talking rear seat, then that's another story altogether. Many have asked the question and I've never seen a definitive answer for a good rear seat fit. There is a seat available in Europe, but it's not sold in the US. Search the archives and you'll find several posts on this topic.

It took me awhile last summer but I finally found a model that fit in both the front and rear of my '81 SC: Century model #44161BLC.

FYI... I did have to change the rear inertia belt to be the older lap belt style (which I purchased from PE products for $50).

Not sure if it will work for your '77 but I hope it helps.
