I'v been looking around at options for sport seats that would accommodate harness belts. I currently have stock sport seats in my car. They are the lower back ones that are not ideal for my height of 6'4".
I was considering the Recaro PP's but my wrench doesn't like the narrow shoulder belt openings. The gt3 and newer CS style cost more than I want to spend. I did see some replica gt3 seats that surely don't compare with the original seats but might be ok for a couple of DE's and autocrosses per year? Are these even worth considering? Anyone using them?

I ran some CF GT3 euro replicas for 2 years in the 996 and a friend of mine picked up some pretty cheap knock offs late last year and runs them in a manner similar top what you are asking with no issues...
although none of us crashed...that is when you find out if saving a few $ was worth it .... right??? - I would not buy no-name seats at this point and think some of the mfg's like Racaro and Sparco have done enough research to be trusted. knowing who makes them and how they are built and tested would be worth more to me than a low price

I agree with you. I wouldn't want to find out weather or not my seats will 'hold up' in a crash situation. Still, spending four grand on a pair of seats seems like a lot.
While upgrading and tinkering with my targa is fun, spending thousands of dollars in parts to 'upgrade' it doesn't make any sense. It's never going to be a race car. My work is also getting in the way these days. I should probably be thinking about a better streetable DE/Autocross platform?

I suffer the same problem, but drive it often and hit the track as much as I can...no racing, just DE's lapping days
I think for <$2k you could land some seats worth owning that you like.
