Woo HOO, The Motor is in....
 

I'm dead tired. About ten Minutes ago (1:30 AM) Me and two buddies just finished putting my newly rebuilt motor back in my car. I spent the day putting it all back together and around 7:00 PM they came over and we put it in. After cranking for a few seconds, then realizing that I had mixed up the referance and the speed sensor, a quick switch was made and it fired right up. What a great feeling. Even better, I took the motor out, tore it down, rebuilt it myself (under the watchful eye of a pro mechanic) and it runs,,,who whoulda thunk it.

For those interested in the costs, they broke down as follows:

Machine work, $405 This included magnafluxing the crank and rods, resizing and rebushing the rods, micropolishing the crank, checking the case and a complete balance of the Rods, pistons, flywheel and crank

new chains and ramps, gaskets sets, main and rod bearings $600

New reference and speed sensors, head temp sensors $270

reground cams from Webcam $500

New 98MM P/C's $1800

Twin plug heads w/EBS racing springs and Titanium retainers
(I've had these for awhile sitting on the shelf) Paid $2000 for entire twin plug setup which including distribitor and two sets of wires, fresh heads with the springs, the andial splitter, modified sheetmetal and lower valve covers for the twin plug.

ARP rod bolts $185

Motor firing up after a very long day....PRICELESS:)


I really enjoyed working on the motor and would suggest it to anyone considering it. Thanks to all those that gave me advice, I really appreciate it.

Great..... Just put my Bottom end together this past weekend...
Would have got P&C's on but had the wrong size rings....
Needed 4mm instaed of 3.5mm on the oil ring.... Very happy we caught it....

Twin Plug Setup
 

So, where or how do you get a twin plug setup? Do you just modify your existing heads, or are pre-modified heads available somewhere?
