Stripped hex nut

Wanted to remove the seats today in my 88 targa and found one of the hex nuts is stripped. The wrench catches in the direction of tightening but doesn't the opposite way. Aside from trying to grind a slot with my dremel tool does anybody have a good trick to fit it? Thanks.

I used a chisel and a hammer on mine. You can hammer the chisel into the top at an angle and spin it off. You will have to replace the bolt. It worked for me.

Craftsman Bolt-out set with a hand impact driver. Worked a miracle for me once.

Stripped allen bolt head (not threads)

Try filing the allen hex key to ensure you have a good bite with no wear on the bit.
Wet the bit and dip it into a powder type cleanser like Comet then put it into the socket of the bolt.
The cleanser may offer enough bite to get it loose without getting all Medieval on its *ss!
Cheers!

Stripped bolt......

If the powder trick doesn't work, try epoxying the wrench into the bolt with some JB weld. Let dry overnite. That should give you enough grip to loosen the bolt. If you spray the allen wrench with oil before setting it in place, you should be able to wriggle it out of the bolt once it is loose.

Need to make sure there is enough room for the allen wrench to spin around 360 degrees before JB welding it in...

You can JB weld an allen driver in and then use a ratchet on it...

One of the bolts in my SC was like that, fortunately I was able to double nut the bolt from the underside and back it up and out enough to grab it with vice grips and remove it. Not sure if it was a factory bolt but I noticed each seat had a pair of these longer bolt....

Good Luck

I have a cheapo welder that helps me tack weld stripped hardware.

I have a set of cheap china sockets, allen, that I cut, weld, modify to take anything out.

You know how rusty get in the northeast.
