Too ugly for me, but then I don't like tails on 911s either (but I don't mean to offend those that do!)

Just want to say "thanks" for ruining a perfectly good 930. Jesus, what a disgusting mess.

If that's a real Gemballa Avalanche it's got the go-go juice to make up for its fugliness.

Though I can think of better ways to spend $300k.

Hello

Yes old memorys,

I worked sometimes on those cars.
They look iky but they where made close to perfect.
Gemballa had a own spare parts cataloge and a own repair manual.
Both where in a much better quality then Porsche manuals. And in 6 languages including arabian and japanese.

And the craftmensship from the early / true ) Gemballas where over perfection.

This car is a "simple" equiped Avalance.

No camera mirrors, no dual instrumentation, now remte control steering wheel, no high end stereo. No ventings in the doors, standard heat and AC, no suspension control.

Quite easy and simple to work on. Must be a US version.

The looks are a bit tasteless but that was fashion and the car also worked very well.

The competition was the RUF or the other high price cars. All off them had a faster topspeed but none feeled so solid and stable at the 160 mph borderzone. Massive downforce createt by spoilers. The 200 mph is goofy, they made close to it, some 195 mph. You could go over it downhill but then the engine would have to be reved to high.

The Mirage follow up had a choped roof and made close to 210 mph. Some guys turned up the wheel and made a 337 km/h top run in one direction. I think the engine did loose power on the rerun and the average speed droped under 310 km/h.

Fastetst tuner Porsches where still the RUF and the Cartronic Revange ( witch was a wordgame to the Avalanche ). Those cars could run with the F 40.
Fastest regular production Porsche is still the 959 sport.

Just wanna mention that at speeds at 90m/sec your survival rate drops enormusly.

CTM are a bit on the high side. A tireset and a typical maintance with a new clutch and some otherworn things could by a middleclass car. Those cars had no ABS and a typical owner got scared when someting happend while highspeeding and locked the brakes.

Several weeks ago there was a 996 Gemballa engine on a ebay auction witch had been smashed slightly via shipment.

That is typical Gemballa.

It smacks of effort, not perfection.

I could kinda dig the car if it would lose the f*d up tail and rear window dressing..
Think about it.. Just slap on a halfway decent whale tail and your in business..

Matter of taste says a dog while licking his a**...

Personally I don't like flat noses (even though I used to have one couple of years ago), but the guy who built this has put a lot of $$$ on it.

My verdict: rice.

Hello

Most people can´t split built quality from design qualitys. If you would choose any other car with similar wide look only Porsche or Buchmann could follow up in the quality level.

Well and it is ugly but impresive. If you stroll down the Ginza you see average luxory and sportscars cramped in the parking lots.

Some people hate to identifey there Ferraris by looking at the number plate.

Some people hate cheap build things that ratle and will not work and some people hate to get blown away at the lights.

Some people have the money to compensate those shortcomings. But money can´t buy taste. Those cars where fashion, haut courtre for the bord walk.

Now that car is the oppesite, form follows function.

( not a very accurate translation but the numbers are international )

Hello

Now here is a low quality slant nose that was inspired by the Gemballa looks.

Just compare the pics:
