Tuning - old news i guess

Been reading up on engine tuning, just out of interest really. Oh dear should I get out a bit more?
Anyway was reassured to find this referewnce

"Most 2 valve per cylinder heads are capable of being modified for between 10% and 15% power increase without increasing valve size. Some heads, like the CVH, have even more potential and 20% is possible. I've rarely come across a head that couldn't be worked to achieve a 10% gain on the standard valve sizes. The Peugeot 205 head is pretty good in standard form and the Porsche 911 head damn near perfect but those are in the minority. "

This is a respected UK tuner who is booke solid for the next six months. Reading this stuff 'cause I might build a little Lotus 7 type kit car, which best uses a highly tuned small capacity engine

Rob;
Thanks for the link. Yes, that is an excellent site. I used to get an great UK magazine called Cars & Car Conversions (C&CC) which had a column from an engine builder which had the same highly skeptical and tip filled style. I used to love them. I wonder if it is the same guy? For those of us in the US, C&CC is available from EWA (http://www.ewacars.com/mghcc.html) or the better Barnes and Nobles. Like this site, the information is suitable for any engine, including our beloved air-cooled flat 6!
