Need help getting my project started
 

I've started on my RSK Spyder replica porject and need a little help. I've bought the donor car, have the 914 rear end that I'm going to put in it, and I'm looking for a 914 engine, or 911 engine. My only trouble is getting in contact with the body kit company. Maybe some of you UK pelicans have heard of the company, GP Technical I have made contact with them and they have sent me the catalog brocure, I have even asked them for the chassis reconditioning manual. It has taken since November to get the information that I currently have (not much), but I'm almost at the point where I can't go on without some of their matierals. Anybody have any thoughts? Any sugestions on how to light a fire under them so I can get on with my project? Any help will be appreciated.http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/yltype.gif

Do you really want to build a kit car made by a firm that is hard to get ahold of with your questions?

That's something else to think about. The kit is about $5000 (3500 pounds sterling) and it is a rather nice kit. Just very hard to get a hold of some one, plus they are in England, I'm in TX. Do you know of any other companies in the US that make RSK bodies?

i though that the "beck" spyder was the best. (from what i've read)

I haven't found a place where is says Beck makes the RSK or RS60 bodies. Don't want to build a 550. Like the lines of the RSK 718 or RS60 much better.

I have also been doing research on the GP spyder. It seems to be a nice kit. I have found several people on the net that have built them (all overseas). They mention the kits built quite easily.

I have emailed Bart(the owner) and he is very helpful. The company used to build chassis for a 914 donor. I was told these are no longer in production. I think the current platform uses a beetle tub/tunnel for a rear engine setup. GP was supposed to have a tubular space frame that would allow for the VW motor to be istalled midship ala 914. I am not sure if it would work for a Type4 motor.

good luck with the project. I took on a second 911 instead of the spyder. Maybe next year.
