wing problem
 

I installed a 964 wing on my 71 targa. Bought the complete unit(hinges,relay,etc.). Installed it and everything worked fine, I loved the wing action, very cool.

Well, I had to drop the motor for some maintenance work, now the wing won't work.
I can hear the relay working and the time delay is Ok. I have voltage and continuity all the way to the motor, and the motor works with external voltage applied to it.

I am at a loss why this thing refuses to work. Any help would be appreciated.

Does the engine lid have to be grounded for the wing to work?
If the lid was removed to drop the engine...it stands to reason that the last thing you did before it stopped working is the cause.

Test if there is a difference in the voltage amounts between sources - in-car wiring vs external source. Is there resistance in the in-car wire that has continuity that may not have been there before?

Say, if only 10v is getting to the motor, it may not work.

Can the relay be swapped with another to test?

If there is a hot and ground wire to the motor are you sure the ground wire has continuity to the body. Test continuity between the ground wire and the engine case.

Well, the grounds are good and there is no voltage drop, rewired it to the radio hot wire, 12v at the motor. I checked each wire coming from the relay to the motor and they both read 12v no matter which direction the switch is pushed, up/down. Shouldn't one be hot and nothing on the other wire to sequence the motor. If that is the case, my switch could be bad or the relay is bad.
