Removing thermostat without draining oil?
Hi,
My 1969 911T is running quite hot recently and I suspect that the internal oil thermostat is stuck in the closed position. Since I can access it just fine with the air box removed, I was wondering if it possible to remove it without draining the oil from the engine/tank? My friend is a mechanic (who doesn稚 do Porsches...) thinks I would be fine. I知 99% it is not possible because the thermostat is on a lower level than the oil tank and all the oil would spill out of the block as soon as it is removed, but maybe I知 wrong? |

On our '86, I replaced a leaky gasket without draining the oil. |
I've done it......I put a rubber glove over the hoses....
