84' 911 ignition issue

Hey all, I'm new to the forums. I'm an air-cooled VW guy who finally got his Dad to show some class and rock a vintage porsche

Anyways, after a few weeks of enjoying the car with no issues, he pulled into the shop today and the KEY would shut off (the engine) but the accessories wouldn't turn off. We have a new electrical portion of the ignition switch coming just in case.

Anyone have the same issue or could shed some light on tracking down the problem. Thanks a lot!

it sounds like you're on the right track, replacing the elect part of the switch.
btw, nice Targa.

I had a similar problem and it was actually the key portion, but yes, you're on the right track.

So we should be looking into the whole switch mechanism and new key? I found a few from 4-600, doesn't seem too bad. Looks like we might have a spare electrical piece
