Working pressure fuel pump for 2.4 E?
Hi,
Can someone tell me what the working pressure is for a 2.4 E fuel pump would be? Also, is it absolutely neccessary to have a return on the pump? The Pierburg pumps do not have a return and I know with carburetors this return can be blocked on the tank. Does this work for an MFI car as well? Thx Hessel

The MFI electric pump 901.608.105.00 (Bosch 058097 0001) is rated 125 liters/hour, 2800 rpm, 3.5 A @ 12 V. The “Operating pressure” is 1 atm (14.2 psi).
The return on the electric pump is only necessary for this original bosch pump, its a pressure relief plus I suspect it flows a little fuel to cool the pump when the ignition is on and the engine not running. The return line is still needed by the MFI fuel filter canister which also has a bypass outlet. Bad things might happen if you blocked this off. Various folk have tried alternatives to the original Bosch electric pump, it would be good to get a review or two on what works and what does not. You would think its a fairly easy spec to meet, 1bar and 125 litres per hour is quite modest.
