Early 911 - Check points dwell
I need to set my points. They are new and the engine runs fairly well, but I'd like to check the dwell. I cannot get an alligator clip on the distributor. Would it hurt anything to attach the clip to a screwdriver and make the contact with the terminal on the distributor while the engine is running?
Or is there an easier way. TIA David

Just fyi, dwell doesn't really matter with a CDI system. The points mearly act as a switch to fire the capacitors in the CD unit. If you set the point gap close to correct, you'll be fine. On an older coil only system you need enough dwell to charge the coil.
