Post Clutch pedal

My clutch pedal sits back further than my other pedals, is there a way to adjust that. I can pull it up about 2 inches but when I let go it snaps right back to where it was.

Isn't 2 inches to much play for that year

You probably have too much of a gap between the screw and the lever arm shown in the top right of the photo below. I believe the gap needs to be 0.1mm.

Refer to the Pelican Tech article.

That pic (and the 'helper' spring) ONLY APPLIES TO '77 and later 915 transaxles!

You mean not everyone drives an SC?

BTW the gap is spec'd at 1.2mm in Bentley (not 0.1mm).

I just did this tonight, so I remember the spec. The gap is 1.2mm, if the cable is unhooked. 1mm if cable is hooked.

OK, but how do I fix it. Its not a big issue, but it would make pushing the clutch in a little easier.

I must also add that the car is finally running great, best it has since Ive owned it and is a great joy to drive now, except for the heat problem here in Texas that is...

If you take a 13mm wrench to the bolt head, and place a 1mm feeler gauge between the bolt and the small lever, with the clutch caqble hooked on,and simply tighten the bolt until the feeler gauge feels not too tight or loose...That should cause your pedal to pull back some.

Before that, though, I'd make certain that your clutch cable doesn't have slack...done with the adjusting nuts on the cable which are on either side of the mount on the transmission.

But I'm not sure adjusting your clutch will make it easier to declutch. If you haven't changed the cable and helper spring in a while, you might think about that. It's a pretty easy change, depending on the year of your 911.

If you do change the clutch cable, make certain that the clevis takes up 17-25mm on the end of the cable.

Just my two cents.
