Where do the two ground straps go in the engine compartment? - '87 Carrera

Just as the title says.

The two ground straps that are connected by the lid hinges.

Where do they terminate to? SmileWavy

I remember these grounds when I was dong my engine drop, not sure where the other end went though.....

Not those. The wide, braided copper ones that are connected near the lid hinges.

I just don't know where they connect on the other end.

I don't think i have any on my deck hinges, just the ones in the pic and one on the gearbox if I remember rightly.

Really?

These totally look factory since they have plastic covers on them.

They are not directly on the hinges, just right next to them.

I can look tonight. I have those straps too but do not know where the other side attaches. I've never removed them.

Is this the strap? (Sorry for the dark photo- not much light in our parking deck)...

If so, the other end attaches to the hinge bolt at the underside of the engine compartment.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1314203594.jpg

That ground strap is for the rear wiper.

Yes, thank you. Do both hook to the hinges?

My car never had a rear wiper AFAIK.

Much appreciated! Using the name gives me one less thing to think about during a valve adjustment....

Yep, exactly what I was thinking....

Ah yes - I do have those now you mention it!!

One is caught in this photo, on the right hand hinge.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1314222103.jpg

chris.817 08-24-2011 02:14 PM

The inboard end attaches at the hinge pivot bolt/nut. My 87 has no wiper and has this strap on the right side only. I have the cab style third brake light.
