Long Island, NY, shop wanted. Alignment questions
I need a recommendation to do a full corner balance, 4 wheel alignment, brake bleed, timing check, and CIS mix check somewhere on long island. The further out the island towards montauk the better.
So after many recommendations for my narrow body 911, I went with 15x7 wheels and yoko s-drives 55/205s. I put the rears on just to look at while the car was on the lift and these suckers are huge. They look like they barely clear the fender, a large amount of neg camber is sure to be needed. What kind of alignment setting should i ask to be used? I have 21/27 bars, stock sways, and rennsport valved shocks. Its just a aggressive street car ill bring to AutoX and the track a couple times a year. Thanks in advance Is more neg camer always better or does it make the car free on entry before the weight transfers? Thanks |

Michael, you might have to travel closer to the borderline of Suffolk/Nassau. I'd recommend Lynmor Motorsports, Huntington Station NY 631 421 1125 . Both Richie and Tim are honest excellent techs. They just completed a suspension change out for me on my 964. I could not be happier in the way the car turned out.

Michael,
Do you want the best? If you do call Dave Hammer @ Werks 1 in Sea Cliff 516-671-3220. Dave only works on 356's & 911's since the late 60's. He eats, sleeps and sh^#s them in his sleep. Nobody on Long Island knows this car better, tell him that Jack Miller gave you his name. Lynmor has been there since the mid 80's. From the 60's to the mid 80's Lynmor in Huntington was owned by Craig and his partner whose name I just can't remember now. I used to only let them touch my XKE's. (Lyn and I think Maureen, were the original wifes names = Lynmor) and they specialized in vintage Jaguars. The guys that have it now I can't vouch for, but they have been doing Porsche since about the late 80's.(if they are the same owners, I know that they moved from the original spot) I know through the PCA that they have club meetings there. Dave Hammer is the best period. Good Luck Jack |

Have you tried talking to Bill Rudtner in Freeport ? He's highly recommended his shop is called Rudtners Racing. I can't speak highly enough of him. Not the cheapest but certainly one of the best.

I used PSH - Porsche Spoken Here - when I had some problems with my car. They did a very good job - and since it was an insurance coverage situation - were very willing to work with me in picking and choosing the work I had done.
They did a great alignment for me and resolved a long standing starting (or should I say "not starting" problem.) They also spent a lot of free time with me when my car would not start at an autox event. This was before I was a customer - and they had no idea I would be come one.
