As expressed in my post above, Bob is a great guy to do business with. Well, I just installed his tach adapter in my 70 to make a 75 tach work and all problems solved. Great guy, great product. Been thrashing around with the problem and now it is solved for not many $$. I am a happy camper. Thanks Bob.

I was really stuck with the MSD box on a 70T. Tried the MSD tach solution and no go. Talked to MSD , that didn't work. I contacted Bob and after reading the positive reviews and decided to try his product. After spending 5 hours on the MSD unit it took us 30 minutes with Bob's Tach Adaptor to get the tach to work again. His communication with myself and my mechanic really made it happen. He responds super fast and explains what you are trying to do. I wish I went with this from the start. If you have tach issues Bob is your man!

Thanks Bob.
The original tach (green faced) in my -66 is alive and reinstalled. The 3 pin CDI on the high comp 2.2 MFI did not trigger the tach so Ive been using a 72 making the dash look odd.
This well engineered and easy to install (and cheap 77usd to europe) really made it.

I don't post too often but I scan the pelican boards every day. I more often than not find answers to my questions and solutions to problems. On two recent occasions Bob Ashlock, a fellow pelican, has come to my rescue. Most recently checking and repairing some old 3 pin bosch CD units that I and a friend needed. I can't say enough good things about Bob. Called me twice to discuss the work. Not only did the work get done well and quickly, but the price was very reasonable. About $100 to get a 3 or 6 pin CD working again. And his tach adapter works like a charm. All you guys with early CD ignition probs just contact Bob Ashlock at his email ratech@pacbell.net. He is really one of the good guys.

Ho Bob
I have a 1971 911T which I changed to MSD6AL

The original electronic ignition was missing when I bought the car - and I temporarily ran points and condensor just to get the car up and running

With this setup the Tach worked although it was quite bouncy

Post installation of the MSD , the Tach now does not work - hence my trawl through the 911 DIY holy grail

I have the old Tach (with a 1 on the connector ) (pic attached )
but it has a green wire ?

I have tried connecting this to the MSD grey Tach wire but nothing happens.

Will your TachAdapt work for this application ?

Cheers Kenny

Hi Kenny,

YES, this is a typical application for Tach-Adapt. It will take the low-level 12V tach signal from the MSD and convert it to an output that will be suitable to make your vintage tachometer display correctly.

If you need more details, you can communicate direct with me at Bob@AshlockTech.com or you can view my site Home to learn more about the product and order it on-line.

Thanks much for your interest - Bob

Thought I would chime in. As of this time I think I have used 10 "yes ten" of these units
in every weird mix and match 911 combination possible.

This "IS" the solution "Period"

Thanks Bob // Steve in Alt.

Bob, are you still servicing CD ignition units? Mine died two years ago and using my spare now... would like to get my dead one working to keep as a spare! It's a 3 pin Bosch. What do I need to do to get it over to ya?

Thanks!

Bob, Thank you for such a simple solution to a common problem! In my case, I am running a set of 914 gauges in a Karmann Ghia with a big CC VW type 1 motor and MSD ignition. This is just what I need! Bob was very helpful and quick to respond. Highly recommended!!!
