Engine smokes at idle

I purchased sw chip and very pleased with the performance however I did notice the engine exhaust smoked a little bit after the chip replacement. Now when I turn on the air-conditioner she will smoke you out of the garage especially after charging the system. What are your thoughts. Could the additional load of the compressor cause excessive smoke at idle? Its seems to be oil burning...not black smoke that I can tell or its time for a top end job?

"Could the additional load of the compressor cause excessive smoke at idle?"

No.

"Its seems to be oil burning...not black smoke that I can tell or its time for a top end job?

Sounds suspicious. Is it using oil? Meaning...how many miles can you drive before you need to add a quart of oil?

Did you remove the cat?

Yes, I removed the cat and noticed an awful smell soon after...my friends would comment about the smell when following me. The engine doesn't smoke under acceleration ,just at idle...valve guides I suspect.

Did the old chip make you think of a top end job too? Maybe putting the stock chip back on might solve your smelly smoke problem.

The cat was masking the oil burn smoke, mine did the same thing, come to a stop and she would belch smoke... it was not the chip but removing the cat that let the smoke show its self. Most likely valve guides.

I'm thinking the same thing...I'm looking into replacing the cams with the 964...Is there a noticeable change in idle and performance? I might as well change it since I'm in the engine.
