Windshield Wiper/Washer Lever (Cleaning contacts)

Hi,

Well, have had some trouble in the last couple of weeks with my windscreen washer pump not actuating. Did a fair bit of trouble shooting, including continuity and voltage tests at the pump and at the intermittent wiper relay and even headlamp washer relay. I had voltage varying between 9 and 11 V at the pump. After doing further testing at the intermittent wiper relay behind the blower, I connected my ohm meter between the red/blk power lead and the yellow wire which eventually branches off on blk to the pump. Between these two point I got fluctuating continuity when I applied the washer lever on the steering column. I managed to clean it some what using electrical contact cleaner to the point where the pump actuates, but it is still a little temperamental.

Is there a way to clean those switch contacts better after removing it from the steering column? Just want to know before I do that (not difficult, as I've done that before) - just curious.

Thanks

Welcome. You will find that there is a wealth of knowledge here if you do some searching. I have found that the best way to search is to google pelican along with key words for what ever you need: wipers donot shut off

Have you posted a pic of your car yet?
