Possibility of R& R of rubber coupler at #5 intake runner
I have determined that the rubber coupler at #5 is cracked. I am not too keen on replacing all of the other couplers now just want to keep it on the road til the cold hits.
Is it possible to remove and replace this coupler leaving everything else in place? Do I need to un-do the injector if so? Any help is greatly appreciated |
1. Loosen the boot clamps.
2. Remove the injector. (not necessary but maybe easier) 3. Unbolt the intake runner for #5 and anything else attached to it. (Aux air valve?) 4. Lift the intake runner up and out. 5. Replace boot. You can also undo the support for the airbox on the right side if necessary. |
Thanks , to remove the injector do I just unscrew it?

It pulls out. It has an O-ring that holds it in place. Sometimes they are hard to pull out. You might just leave it in and remove the runner. There should be enough slack on the injector line.

Don't leave the injector in, you can bend it removing the runner in this manner.

I believe OP is working on a 74?
About a month ago I removed runners on my base model 74 without removing injectors first. I don't recall any injectors trying to hang up/bend. Perhaps an S model or those with larger runners would be where injectors might bend? |
